http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Opening_lines

- Opening lines are the initial portions of dialogue or text in a written book often constituted by at least the first sentence or a fragment thereof. A good opening line, or incipit, is usually considered desirable. A number of them are so well-known that they are remembered long after the book, while others are so famous that they can end up parodied.

- In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 創世記

- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Book of John in The Bible 「

- Marley was dead, to begin with.
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens 「

- It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens 「

- Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the riverbank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, 'and what is the use of a book', thought Alice, 'without pictures or conversation?'
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll 「

- To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman.
'A Scandal in Bohemia' (The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes), by Arthur Conan Doyle 「

- It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen 「

- Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy 「

- Mother died today. Or, maybe, yesterday; I can't be sure.
The Stranger by Albert Camus 「

- In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice I've been turning over in my mind ever since.
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald 「

- He was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had gone eighty-four days now without taking a fish.
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway 「

- Lolita. Light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul.
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov 「

- A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away
Star Wars by George Lucas 「

- A spectre is haunting Europe -- the spectre of communism.
The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels
