spike 「突出」「急に増える」（"Word of the Year 2014" 関連の記事より） [単語・表現]
先日、「今年の漢字」に「税」が選ばれたが、英語圏でも「今年の単語」の発表が始まっている。それを報じる英文にあった spike を取り上げよう。尖ったスパイクが突き出しているというイメージだろうか、「急増（する）」という意味である。
今年の "Word of the Year" は、すでに英米の老舗辞書２社が発表している。オックスフォードが vape、メリアム・ウェブスターが culture である。

あけましておめでとうございます。
今年も記事を楽しみにしております。
偶然にも最近、日経ビジネスで「スパイキー・グローバリゼーション」なる語に初めて出くわしました。（下記４～５ページ目）

調べてみると、英語の記事は１０年以上前に出ていたようですが、私は初耳だったので、面白いなと感じました。経済は疎いので、どの記事が適切か明確に判断はできませんが、画像的にスパイクイメージだった記事がありました。

個人的には、技術がいくら進んでも人がやるのは井戸端会議の相手を対象にしたビジネスで、結果の地図がスパイク型でフラット化しないことが感じられ、人間臭い言葉だな、と思います＞spiky globalization。

にゃんきち様、興味深い記事を教えていただきありがとうございました。「フラット」と「スパイク」という対比、おもしろいですね。
それなりに多忙な仕事の合い間に書いているうえ、単なる「知らなかった単語表現と訳語の紹介」だけには終わらせたくないこともあり、なかなか記事を増やせませんが、今年もどうぞよろしくお願いいたします。
