signature 「（ある人の）代名詞的な、トレードマークの」「その人ならではの」 [注意したい単語・意外な意味]
前回、"片づけコンサルタント"近藤麻理恵さんにちなむ表現を紹介した際の実例に、もうひとつおもしろいと思う単語があったので取り上げたい。signature がそれだが、「署名、サイン」と取ると意味がよくわからない。
The Wall Street Journal 紙にあった英文をいま一度引用しよう。

もうひとつ、自分の学習ノートにメモしていた実例も紹介しよう。国連のパン・ギムン事務総長について書かれた英文にあったものだ。
- Making virtue of necessity, Ban has tried to cast himself as a doer, not a talker, but he’s largely failed on that front, too. Early in his tenure, he established climate change as his signature issue, but after the spectacular flameout of his 2009 global summit in Copenhagen he has made little headway.

"こんまり"さんの実例は signature のあとに question が続いていたが、こちらは issue である（ついでだが、cast himself as a doer, not a talker という表現もおもしろい。というより、私のノートは、こちらの表現を目的としてメモしたものだった）。
こうした例で使われている signature は、辞書によって、形容詞的に使われた名詞としているもの、あるいは形容詞そのもの、というように品詞をどうみるかは分かれているが、意味の説明と用例をいくつか引用しよう。
