- There was only one floor between him and the spreadeagled body below.
Tee-Hee was either dead or dying. He lay spreadeagled on his back. His striped tie lay across his face like a squashed adder. Bond felt no remorse. He frisked the body for a gun and found one stuck in the waistband of the lavender trousers, now stained with blood.
(Live and Let Die by Ian Fleming)
- On one occasion Buller was found spread-eagled outside the bedroom door waiting his chance, breathing heavily like a Shakespearian murderer.
(The Human Factor by Graham Greene)
- Stretched out with one’s arms and legs extended
She lay on her stomach spread eagle, head titled to the side, face contorted in pain.
(Oxford Dictionaries)
- lying or standing with arms and legs outstretched
the spreadeagled body
He was spreadeagled across the bed, face down, still in his clothes.
(Collins English Dictionary)
- to stand or move with arms and legs stretched out: sprawl
(Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary),
- sprawl (be sprawling, lie sprawling) on the bed (in the chair)
lie (sprawl, be stretched) at full length (with one's arms spread out); lie spread-eagled; lie in an X shape; stretch oneself
