- Vice President Mike Pence’s recent swing through Latin America quickly acquired an unwanted label: the cleanup tour. Almost everywhere Mr. Pence went, one question followed: Did President Trump really mean it when he spontaneously threatened a United States military intervention in Venezuela?
("What the President Really Meant to Say" The New York Times Aug. 31, 2017)
- President Donald Trump is making an aggressive campaign swing in the final four days before the midterm elections, rallying for Republican candidates all around the country. But for all his bluster and confidence, Trump let slip some doubts about the GOP's ability to hold the House.
("President Trump Signals Doubt About Keeping the House Ahead of Midterms" Time Nov. 3, 2018)
- AMERICAN a quick trip through an area in which you make short visits to several places
swing through: The President is making a five-day swing through the region.
(Macmillan Dictionary)
- North American A swift tour involving a number of stops, especially one undertaken as part of a political campaign.
'This was an important stop on my current swing through the region,' Mr Cheney said.
(Oxford Dictionaries)
