- When Trump was in business, his shtick was stiffing contractors. If confronted, he would try some bombast and storm out of meetings, as he did the other day with congressional leaders, ending talks on the partial government shutdown caused by a crisis he has manufactured. His shtick now is stiffing all Americans. The technique is the same: Keep reality at a distance through hyperactive fakery.
("Donald Trump Just Cannot Help It" The New York Times Jan. 11, 2019)

- After exchanging perfunctory pleasantries with Drake, Trump declared, "I want to meet her," and pointed to Daniels. As Daniels imitated Trump's pointing gesture—by now well known from his "You're fired" schtick—the trio in the tattoo parlor burst out laughing.
("When Trump Met Stormy Daniels: The Strange Story of Four Wild Days in Tahoe" GQ March 22, 2018)

- A source told CNN's Jeff Zeleny that Trump -- who often finds it difficult to fire people in person despite his schtick on NBC's "The Apprentice" -- had decided that Ricardel has to go, though she was being given time to clear her desk.
