eureka moment 「わかった」「ピンときた」

前回の lightbulb moment から連想したのが、同様の意味を持つ eureka moment である。"Eureka!" は、アルキメデスが難題の回答を思いついた時に叫んだとされる言葉だ。

手製の学習ノートには、読んだ本から拾った実例がいくつかメモしてあった。

アルキメデスは、黄金の王冠に混ぜ物がされているかどうかを壊さずに確かめるという難題の答えを、風呂に入った時に水があふれるのを見て思いついた。そして興奮のあまり裸のまま外へ飛び出し「わかった！」と叫びながら街路を走ったという。

よく知られた故事ではあるが、本当にあったことかどうかは定かではないらしく、Wikipedia には次のような記述があった。もちろんアルキメデスがまれにみる天才であったことに変わりはないが。
