no longer have enough in the tank 「気力が尽きた」（アーダーン首相が辞任表明）

ニュージーランドのアーダーン首相が辞任する意向を表明した。理由としてあげたのは失政やスキャンダルではなく、首相を続けるためのエネルギーが底をついた、というものだった。

CNNの記事は、

- New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced Thursday she will stand aside for a new leader within weeks, saying she doesn’t believe she has the energy to seek re-election in the October polls.

と書き出していたが、原語ではアーダーン氏は、"I no longer have enough in the tank to do it justice." と表現していた。エネルギーがなくなった、余力がない、ということを、燃料タンクが一杯ではなくなってしまった、という形で表したわけである。「ガス欠」とか「燃え尽き」と訳せる場合もありそうだ。

また "You cannot and should not do it unless you have a full tank." とも語っていた。

tank をこのように使っているのがちょっとおもしろいと思ったので、そのくだりをまるまる引用しよう。

- I believe that leading a country is the most privileged job anyone could ever have, but also one of the more challenging. You cannot, and should not do it unless you have a full tank, plus, a bit in reserve for those unexpected challenges.

- I am leaving because with such a privileged role, comes responsibility. The responsibility to know when you are the right person to lead, and also, when you are not.
I know what this job takes, and I know that I no longer have enough in the tank to do it justice. It is that simple.

アーダーン首相の今回の会見は、平易な言葉を使っていてわかりやすく、英語表現の面でも参考になるのではと思ったところがある。気を引かれた表現をいくつか抜書きしておこう。

- Consideration of the date over the summer, and the impending election and new political term has also given me time for reflection.

- I am entering now my sixth year in office. And for each of those years, I have given my absolute all.

- The only interesting angle you will find is that after going on six years of some big challenges, that I am human. Politicians are human. We give all that we can, for as long as we can, and then it’s time.
And for me, it’s time.

アーダーン氏は37歳の若さで首相に就任し、新型コロナ政策や産休の取得は日本でも広く報道されて注目を集めたと思う。ただ最近は支持率が大きく低下していたという。辞任の真の理由はわからないが、まだ一線を退く年齢ではないので、一息ついたあと、政治とは限らずとも何らかの形で一線に復帰するのではないだろうか。

私もこの記事に注目しましていました。ですのでこのブログで紹介されて、とてもうれしく思います。
アーダーン氏は“Jacinda-mania”と呼ばれるほどの人気で首相になり、コロナ対策で海外でも一躍有名になりました。“I am human. Politicians are human,” she explained. “We give all that we can, for as long as we can, and then it’s time.” の言葉にもその気さくな人柄が表れているように思います。
さて、1つ質問があります。
後半部分の do it justice はどのように読み取られますか？DeepL　では”正当に評価できる”　と翻訳されました。
この表現は頻繁に使用されるのでしょうか？
何かお分かりのことがありましたら、ご教示ください。

do sb/sth justice は "to deal with sb/sth correctly and completely" (LDOCE) とありますので、「(仕事などを)しっかりとやり遂げる」というような意味にとらえればいいのだろうと思います。首相の仕事に自分の力をフルに発揮できるような状態ではなくなった、ということでしょうね。
